What feedback did you get? List at least 10 pieces of feedback and respond with your thoughts to them. How might this feedback prompt iteration? How might it change what your project looks like? Where might your project go from here?
We presented our idea of the Facebook friend visualizer last week, and got feedback from the Dean of the Art School. She gave the impression that she wasn't all too excited about our idea, since she wasn't a Facebook user and did not really understand the concept/ use for a friend visualizer. She asked each member our roles in getting the project together, and how we contributed/ what our personal role as a group member was. She thought we could have done a better job of working together and trying out different ideas and also the organization/ designating specific jobs for each person. She also suggested that we take our project a bit further and create a poster for each person in the group's friend branch, not just Jason's. She made it clear that she knew Jason did the bulk of the work, but because he was the only engineer. He took special interest in designing the website because that's just what he likes to do in his free time. From this, we could actually create the website. We could also incorporate more elements of art and music, be more specific with them.

HW Feb. 15
Blog: Report what changes you made and what changes you still want to make to your project.
I was not in class last Tuesday, but my team decided to completely throw away our old project idea and start with one that Jean suggested. We are now going to try and work on the idea of visualizing Facebook connections on an individual user level and incorporating music somehow. This will display the cultural backgrounds of a person's friends and show how everyone is connected.

Feb. 8 Homework
I interviewed Phil Wilkinson, my best friend who currently lives in Spain, he is a senior in high school. I also interviewed my friend Joanie Moser, a freshman at Xavier University. The third person I asked about our project was another friend, Madeline Faler, a sophomore at DePaul University. They all generally agreed that our project idea for the interactive magazine was cool and that they would use it if it was invented. Phil said that the magazine might end up being expensive, since it was so high-tech, and he would therefore not buy it.

How do Dodds and Smith define fixation?
-They define fixation as a way of trying to unsuccessfully solve a problem. A person who is fixated will continuously try to solve problems with the same method, even though it is the wrong method.
When and why does Gerber recommend throwing away previously generated ideas?
-Gerber believes that erasing old ideas will reduce commitment to them, and therefore allow for new ideas to be generated. We can then focus on the future rather than the past.

What is your reaction to the idea of “throwing away” some aspect of your team project ideas? In his discussion of the history of innovation, Johnson says that breakthrough ideas seldom come as a flash of inspiration and that innovative ideas are often the result of the collision of several hunches. What do you think about Johnson’s thesis? Thinking about your group project ideas and your in-class teamwork, how might you combine them to create something more innovative?
-I would support discarding my team's old ideas, and focusing more on the topic rather than generating ideas off of other ideas, which tend to stray from the main intent. I agree with Johnson's thesis. Without gathering evidence and drawing from several different conclusions, it is often difficult to reach new better solution to a problem. In our teamwork, we could combine several ideas from different think-sessions- sessions where we discarded old ideas and tried to think fresh. then combining these several ideas could lead to our breakthrough, just as Johnson states.
